Our Vision, Mission and Values (Dojo-Kun)

At Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do, we have spent some time defining our vision, mission, and values and have gathered feedback from our students and instructors from all over the world.

Together, these statements provide an immediate purpose and long-term direction for everyone and everything that we do within our organization.

Most importantly, through our “dojo-kun” we have defined our core values and our expectations on how we expect our students of all ages to behave inside and outside the dojo.

History

History

Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do is a traditional Japanese style of karate which means “Profound Reflections for Growth Style” of Karate-Do and developed by Founding Master Ino Maquirang. Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do is based in Sydney, Australia.

As a superior form of physical exercise and self-defence, Jin Sei Ryu uses the study of Karate-Do to enable students to become most kind and genuine individuals who make valuable contributions to society.

Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do uses a personal development framework developed over 45 years that guides students of all ages through a process of growth and achievement.

My Story

Kancho Ino started martial arts in Kyokushin Karate in 1974 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, as an eight-year-old boy. At this time, his father introduced him to a very famous master, Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura, who later became his instructor, influential role model and personal mentor.  Upon meeting Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura, he began a humble student-teacher relationship that spanned almost 45 years, initially within Kyokushinkai-kan and later the World Seido Karate Organisation.  Over time, Kancho Ino steadily progressed as a dedicated student, successful competitor, accomplished instructor, ambassador, and eventually as an international branch chief in Australia for the past 20 years.

In 2019, Kancho Ino founded Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do as a means of continuing his journey. Through Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do, Kancho Ino provides students an opportunity to follow a path which builds on the strongest karate traditions.

Philosophy

Martial arts are more popular than ever.  Information and knowledge is widespread and readily available all over the world.  We see these teachings all the time in traditional and digital media.

Moreover, the world is becoming more complex and personal viewpoints are becoming stronger, with less consideration and understanding for others.

In my lifelong journey in the martial arts, I have tried to study not just the techniques that have been taught, but also the philosophies that underpin these arts. I am by no means an expert, but my experience has helped to deepen my own personal understanding. I would like to share this philosophy with my students.

Jin Sei Ryu is a system of Karate-Do that is not just technical in nature.  I personally believe that students, when they or their parents find Jin Sei Ryu, start a personal journey of self-development. This journey may be brief or may last for many years.  This journey consists of learning this traditional art of Karate-Do and during this time they become better students and kinder individuals who make positive contributions to the world around them. Most importantly, I believe that we can learn karate at our own pace, and support the diverse perspectives and paths that others may be pursuing themselves during their own journeys. At its most fundamental meaning, Jin Sei Ryu Karate-Do means Profound Reflections for Growth Style of Karate-Do.  In short, “Reflect then pursue kindness through Karate-Do.”
